Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital opened its $83 million surgery center expansion to patients, according to a Healthcare Finance report.
Here are three takeaways:
1. The 165,000-square-foot expansion includes 10 expanded surgery and endoscopy suites and a hybrid operating room.
2. It will also include a central sterile processing area and a surgery prep/hold area with 23 beds/chair bays.
3. The project was paid for in part through the hospital's affiliation with South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health System, and in part from bonds.
