Compass Surgical Partners, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., sold Bay Area Physicians Surgery Center in Brandon, Fla., after Compass worked to successfully turnaround the surgery center.
Here are five things to know:
1. Founded in 2007, Bay Area Physicians Surgery Center houses three operating rooms and three procedure rooms.
2. In 2021, Compass invested in the center and provided the ASC management services after the center had encountered various business performance obstacles.
3. Compass' plan of action entailed the ASC obtaining AAAHC accreditation as well as recruiting physicians. Additionally, the plan also required restructuring the board governance and restoring the business office.
4. Compass COO Sean Rambo attributed the turnaround to the ASC's surgeons dedication to their partnership with Compass and clinical quality.
5. Hospital Corporation of America purchased a 51 percent interest in the surgery center.
"Compass worked tirelessly to help our center. I never had any doubt in their integrity. They set us up for a profitable hospital partner merger," said Scott Powell, MD, BASPC board member.
