Connecticut's Patient Safety Organization recognized Wilton (Conn.) Surgery Center's Amanda Gunthel for patient safety.
Ms. Gunthel received the Elizabeth Buzzuto Award, which is the Connecticut Patient Safety Organization's highest form of recognition for ambulatory surgery center leadership excellence.
Ms. Gunthel serves on the PSO board as well as the board of directors for the Connecticut Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers. The two-OR surgery center focuses on ophthalmology and pain management and opened in August 2005.
Before taking on the administrator role at Wilton Surgery Center, Ms. Gunthel spent time as the director of practice management and development for the healthcare management firm that first opened the center.
