The Senate voted in favor of President Donald Trump's pick to lead CMS — Seema Verma, according to USA Today.

1. The Senate approved Ms. Verma in a 55 to 43 vote, which was mainly along party lines.
2. As CMS administrator, Ms. Verma will oversee the $1 trillion agency that manages health insurance programs for more than 130 million Americans.
3. Ms. Verma has said Medicaid is not meeting its overall goal in providing coverage for low-income Americans, USA Today reports.
4. Ms. Verma was instrumental in implementing a Medicaid expansion program in Indiana alongside Vice President Mike Pence.
5. President Trump also nominated Scott Gottlieb, MD, on March 10, 2017, to run the FDA.
