The Council of Economic Advisers and HHS released a report that showed repealing the ACA would have "profound implications" for many Americans, according to The Hill.
Here are four things to know:
1. The report is equipped with more than 100 pages of analysis and charts depicting how the ACA has lowered premiums, added jobs and extended Medicare's solvency.
2. The report's release date is crucial as this Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, is the last day Americans can sign up for 2017 ACA coverage.
3. In President-elect Donald Trump's first 100 days of office, Congressional Republicans have said they aim to pass a repeal bill. However, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said it will take legislators at least a year to construct a viable ACA alternative.
4. The report authors hope the data will create an environment in which Republicans will struggle to repeal the law due to political ramifications. CEA Chairman Jason Furman referred to the report as "our most comprehensive attempt" to quantify the ACA's effects.
