A majority of physicians are accepting insurance plans sold on the health insurance exchanges, according to a report from Jackson Healthcare.
The report, titled "National Physician Survey: ACA Increasing Healthcare Costs" in early June 2015. Here are a few key statistics:
1. There are 67 percent of physicians accepting insurance plans sold in the exchange.
2. More than half, 59 percent of physicians, felt the law's positive effects don't outweigh its negative effects for their medical practice.
3. Overhead costs for items including electronic medical records and administrative costs for ACA compliance increased for 61 percent of the physicians.
4. Sixty percent of physicians reported additional administrative work due to the ACA, resulting in less time with patients.
5. Half of the potential patients are delaying routine screenings due to high-deductible plan costs.
6. Around 23 percent of physicians are thinking about, or planning, retirement, or becoming part-time locum tenens/contract employees this year.
