Anthem Blue Cross and its 17 ACO partners saved $70.4 million over a 12-month measure period and also provided high quality care to Anthem preferred provider organization members.
Anthem's Medical Director for Provider Enablement Michael Belman, MD, discussed the results during the State of Reform Conference in Los Angeles on Oct. 31, 2016.
Here are five key takeaways:
1. Of the 17 partners, 12 groups had more type 1 and type 2 members undergo Hemoglobin A1c testing.
2. Eleven medical groups upped the number of children between three and six who received one or more well-child visits with a primary care practitioner during the 12-month period.
3. Ten groups increased the number of infants who had six or more well-child visits with a primary care physician during the first 15 months of life.
4. Nine groups had more sexually active women between 16 and 24 undergo Chlamydia screening.
