Summit Orthopedics receives advanced certification for total hip, total knee replacement: 4 things to know

The Joint Commission awarded Summit Orthopaedics' Vadnais Heights (Minn.) Surgery Center its Gold Seal of Approval for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement.

Here's what you should know.

1. The center is one of two ASCs nationwide to earn the certification.

2. Summit CEO Adam Berry honored the surgery center and its physicians and staff.

3. The Joint Commission developed the certification to meet the growing number of patients undergoing the advanced procedures.

4. Since opening in 2014, patients undergoing the procedure at Summit had a 96.2 out of 100 level of satisfaction. The center's infection rate was between 0.1 percent and 0.5 percent, and the average time from surgery to ambulation was between 3 hours and ten minutes to three hours and 23 minutes.
